Moissanite is a lab-created gemstone made from silicon and carbon. Scientists heat and
press these elements together under extreme conditions to create beautiful crystals.
These crystals are then cut and polished to make stunning gemstones. It takes two
months for these crystals to be formed, because the process is complicated, the amount
of moissanites that can be created is limited, further increasing their value. (Natural
moissanite originally comes from space- created by a meteorite that fell to earth) This
makes it one of the rarest natural minerals found in nature. This scarcity makes
moissanite an especially precious stone; even though it can now be made in a laboratory.
Moissanite stones offer several compelling reasons for choosing them over other gemstones:
Exceptional Brilliance and Fire;
- Rainbow Effect: Moissanite’s high dispersion causes light to refract and scatter into a stunning rainbow of colors, creating a mesmerizing “fire” effect.
- Superior sparkle: Its high refractive index results in exceptional brilliance, making moissanite gemstones sparkle more intensely than diamonds.
- Durability: Hardness – with a Mohs hardness rating of 9.25, moissanite is incredibly durable, second to diamonds. This makes it highly resistant to scratches and chipping, perfect for everyday wear.
- Ethical and sustainable: Moissanite is created in a lab, eliminating the ethical concerns associated with diamond mining, such as labor exploitation and environmental damage.
- Affordability : Moissanite offers a beautiful and affordable alternative to diamonds, allowing you to enjoy a larger carat size or more intricate design within your budget.
By choosing Moissanite, you can enjoy a stunning, durable and ethically sourced gemstone that offers exceptional value and beauty.
Jewellery is one of the most personal and cherished adornments that becomes part of us like a second skin. Proper care ensures your jewellery remains beautiful for years to come. Here are some essential tips:
- Daily wear and tear: Remove jewellery before activities like sports, cleaning, or swimming.
- Avoid harsh chemicals: Limit exposure to harsh chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, lotions, perfume, hairspray, and cleaning products as they can damage the metals and gemstones.
- Protect from moisture: Remove jewellery before showering or bathing to prevent water damage and mineral buildup.
- Jewellery is not made for sleeping in: Always take off your jewellery before going to bed. Do not sleep wearing rings, earrings, necklaces, or bracelets, as this may cause damage such as bending and breakage of your jewels.
- Avoid exposure to hand sanitizers: Keep your hands clean but avoid exposing your jewellery to hand sanitizers and other chemical disinfectants. These liquids contain harsh chemicals that can eat away at precious metals and may also cause irreversible damage to gemstones. Allow hand sanitizer to dry completely on your skin before putting jewellery back on.
- Storage Tips:
- Individual storage: Store each piece separately to prevent scratching and tangling.
- Soft pouch or box: Use a soft fabric-lined pouch or box to protect your jewellery in a cool, dark, and dry place, away from direct sunlight.
